SXSW - March 17th, 2006 - Austin, TX

More then 1500 people packed the large patio area at Emo's in Austin, TX on March 17th, 2006 to experience a show no one in attendance will ever forget. South By Southwest played background to this daytime event hosted by Shirts for a Cure, Riot Squad and Photo Finish which featured some of the best and most well known talent playing today in the punk scene. This free event featured the likes of Drive By, Hit The Lights, The Loved Ones, The Receiving End of Sirens, Head Automatica and Circa Survive - and closed the afternoon out with two unforgettable sets from two amazing bands from New Jersey. The seminal punk outfit Lifetime blazed through a set that included favorites such as "Turnpike Gates", "The Boys No Good" and "Ostracized" - proving that their long absence from the stage has not dulled their talent. Next My Chemical Romance climbed on stage and closed the afternoon off, surprising many in the audience by blowing the doors off of Emo's. Storming through stripped down, punk versions of their hits "I'm Not OK" and "Helena" along with a fistful of other fan favorite's, MCR showed the world that success has not changed where they came from. After all was said and done Shirts for a Cure raised over $7000 in donations and the world took notice of our little showcase. Thank you to all who help make this amazing event happen - Brian Schechter, Matt Galle, Margie Alban, Heather Ryan, Ari, Dr Dan, Dave, Scotty, Peter, Gerard, Mikey, Frankie, Bob, Ray, Andy Pants, John Byrd, Katie Brown, Michelle Fearless, Worm, Matt Cortez and all the bands who volunteered their time and energy to this event - none of this would have been possible without you.
