NEW YORK, NY (May 3, 2013) –- The Shirts For A Cure Project (SFAC) is proud to announce their special Ten Year Anniversary Celebration, a boat cruise concert on Sunday, June 16th, around Manhattan featuring Pennsylvania hardcore act Title Fight. All proceeds from the evening will benefit women battling breast cancer via the Syrentha Savio Endowment (SSE).

Since its inception in 2002, SSE has worked with clinics across the country from Los Angeles to New Brunswick, NJ and countless places in between to provide chemotherapy, anti-nauseous drugs and other financial assistance to underprivileged women fighting breast cancer.  The endowment was founded by punk rock photographer Mark Beemer as a way to honor his wife who had recently passed due to complications of her own battle with breast cancer. As anyone so entrenched in the punk and hardcore community would do, Mark turned to his friends in bands such as The Bouncing Souls, Hot Water Music, Darkest Hour, and Lifetime to give a voice to this important health and social issue.

In 2003, SSE launched Shirts For A Cure, in connection with a weekend of Kid Dynamite reunion shows, as a way to give bands the opportunity to raise money and awareness for this worthwhile cause.  It seems only fitting that now, ten years later, the non-profit celebrate its Ten Year Anniversary with another highly anticipated concert event.

This Rocks Off produced show on Sunday, June 16^th will dock at Pier 83 in New York City with boarding beginning at 7pm.  The boat will depart promptly at 8pm, traveling down the Hudson River and circling Liberty Island, offering fans tremendous views of the Manhattan skyline, New Jersey and The Statue of Liberty, all the while having Title Fight perform on deck. Additional special guests will be announced in the coming weeks.  This truly once-in-a-lifetime event wouldn’t be complete without the offering of exclusive Shirts For A Cure x Title Fight merchandise available for purchase on board, both t-shirts and posters to commemorate the evening.

We are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Drexel University’s Music Industry students on a campaign to re-release our founder (and noted photographer) Mark Beemer’s book, Stealing Time: 23 Years of Punk Images.  But, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Mark has been a regular fixture on the hardcore and punk scenes for over two decades, and has photographed such renowned bands as Fugazi, The Bouncing Souls, My Chemical Romance, and Rise Against.  All proceeds from the sale of the re-release of Stealing Time will go directly to the Syrentha Savio Endowment. We need your help to fund the printing of this incredible collection of images from the past 20 years so that music lovers and breast cancer supporters alike can experience the energetic, spirited images that Mark captured over the span of his celebrated career. Furthermore, sharing these images with the world will allow us to continue to reach so many underprivileged women and provide them with the financial resources they need to access life-saving cancer treatments.

We hope to raise $10,000 to help cover the costs of printing the new edition of Stealing Time. On Saturday, February 23rd 2013 we held our Eleventh Annual Charity Dinner & Raffle at Clyde’s of Gallery Place in Washington, DC.  We really felt the love as it was easily our most attended charity dinner to date with upwards of 140 constitutes in attendance — that’s over thirty more folks than last year’s event.  It’s always wonderful being surrounded with so many family members and friends, new and old.  We honored two of our long-time  volunteers and supporters, Bobby Soup and K8 Hiltz. Also on hand were representatives from Drexel University’s Music Industry program whom we have partnered with on an upcoming campaign and Austin’s Breast Cancer Resource Center, our 2012 donation recipient.
