Over 400 fans have signed up to join Thrice on their home turf and participate in this 5K walk around Fashion Island in Newport Beach in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer.

"We're really excited about this year's turnout," says Mark Beemer, Chairman of SSE. "It will be great to educate so many young people at one time and to have a wide variety of people involved with the team." With a 400% increase in participation from last year, members of team "ThriSSE" will be gathering from all over Southern California, New York, Kansas, South Carolina, and Baltimore to help raise money to provide financial assistance for underprivileged women with breast cancer.

The members of Thrice are equally excited about participating in this event. Thrice drummer Riley Breckenridge says he is blown away by the amount of people participating in the event this year. "I believe our large turnout is a testament to the amount of work Mark puts into SSE and the dedication of the people that support this band," says Riley. "I am proud to be involved and excited about seeing everyone out there supporting SSE on the 26th."

In addition to the walk, this year as a "Thank You" for joining Thrice and SSE for the Race for the Cure, there will be a special performance by Thrice on the night of September 26th at the Anaheim Nightclub Chain Reaction. Tickets will not be sold for this event, and only those who walked with the team that morning will be allowed entrance.

The Syrentha J. Savio Endowment (SSE) is a non-profit organization that provides funding for chemotherapy and other medication for underprivileged women who cannot afford the growing expense of fighting breast cancer. In just under 18 months, SSE has raised more than $140,000 through a series of events that include benefit concerts, dinners, auctions, and awareness walks.
